I’ve been married to my amazing wife Lynette since 2005—she’s the perfect wingman for this adventure called life! Together, we’re the proud parents of Lyne and Yandre, who bring us endless joy.
I’m passionate about Jesus and the church. I truly believe that, even in its imperfection, the local church is God’s answer to restoring brokenness, addressing social injustices, healing relationships, and fighting poverty. The church isn’t here for itself—it’s called to partner with God in His Missio Dei, bringing hope and transformation to the world.
I love seeing the big picture and enjoy doing life alongside others. I’m known for my social commentary and feel blessed with the ability to embody the gospel of Jesus in local cultures.

John has been leading worship and playing music since his days with the Grooters & Beal Band began in the late ‘80’s.  Their Christmas musicals “Rock Vespers” were an advent staple for West Michigan for many years.  As a worship leader, John joined Hope Church in 2016 and fell in love with the people and the place of South Haven.  Now leading the Hope Love Band, John and the band have written many songs for our congregation and recorded the album Songs from Hope that contains many of them.  John and his wife Judy are engaged in  the fellowship and the journey at Hope Church.
John is among the most sought-after screen-writers and directors in the world of faith-based documentary and filmmaking. His work has inspired millions throughout the world in theaters, museums, conferences, broadcast television and includes everything from feature films and documentaries to teaching series and commercials.
